Every year since 2023, I have shared a comprehensive list of seed companies in Canada, organized by region, on both Instagram and Facebook. It began with companies I had ordered from, or that had been recommended by fellow gardeners, and I then researched online to expand the list. Now, in 2026, this list has grown exponentially, so I decided to create a blog post for each region to highlight the many wonderful seed companies across our country.
The blurbs and most of the photos included here are provided by the companies themselves, either through communication with me or from their comments on my social media posts. If you run or work for one of these companies and would like to add or update your blurb and photo in this post, please DM me or complete this form.
If you own a seed company and don’t see it listed, please reach out to me, and I will add it. I want to emphasize that it’s never personal if your company isn’t on this list. Compiling lists like these requires a lot of time and energy, and it’s easy to overlook a company, even if I’ve ordered from you many times.

A note for gardeners: If you’re looking for specific seeds, such as organic, open-pollinated, or locally grown, be sure to check the company’s website! This is especially important if the company hasn’t provided me with information about their products. You’ll want to double-check that they meet your needs, as some companies are hybrid repackagers or growers with distinct specialties and priorities.
One recommendation I can make, as a gardener who has purchased from many seed companies across Canada, is to consider the location of the company and whether their climate is similar to yours. I like to try out 2-3 new companies each year, and encourage you to order seeds from growers in your region. If the seeds are grown on-site, they are likely better suited to your growing zone.
Additionally, every company has its niche. For example, one of my favourite companies in Alberta specializes in and sells only pink seeds!
If you’re wondering whether the seeds you order will thrive, rest assured: any seed from any reputable company can and will grow in your garden, regardless of where it was bred. For most gardeners, especially beginners, there’s no need to worry about the origin of your seeds. As long as you provide the basic care, your seeds will sprout and produce.
There are some nuances for more advanced gardeners.
For example, I’ve noticed that seeds bred outside of Zone 3 (such as those from Floret, Johnny’s, or new introductions from Sunflower Steve) sometimes need extra attention. While I can grow the varieties these breeders create, I need to adjust the seed starting window and make other minor adjustments throughout the growing season to help them flourish in Zone 3. Similarly, some tomato varieties bred for wet climates will still grow here, but they may not be as vigorous or productive as types better adapted to our conditions.
That said, if the variety you’re purchasing is an established heirloom variety or a hybrid that’s been in development for 10+ years, you likely won’t have to take anything into consideration.
