At the beginning of the growing season, I was given two bundles of seeds from Sow Right Seeds (an American seed company). I got a cut flower bundle and a homesteading bundle. What made me want to accept this offer from them was how economical it would make it for someone to get into gardening.
The collection of homesteading seeds felt very well-rounded. If you were brand new to gardening, I would probably suggest these seeds, varieties, and vegetables anyway! And with the cut flower seeds, I felt the same. The bundle had a good mix of perennials and annuals, and these were all very basic, easy-to-grow flowers that I probably would have recommended myself to someone just starting out.
Update for my Canadian followers: Sow Right Seeds now ships to Canada! When they initially sent me seeds, they made an exception for me so I could tell my American readers about their products. I was so excited to discover they are now shipping to Canada because my review is actually glowing!
Let’s get into it.

Homesteaders Collection
I’ve been moving away from growing vegetables only because I feel veggies need more time, energy, and good soil than I have, but I still planted what was sent to me. There were a few types of vegetable seeds I wasn’t familiar with planting, such as asparagus seeds, which was exciting!
And I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was for the asparagus to grow!
In hindsight, the only thing I didn’t get right was the timing for putting them outdoors. And maybe they should have been direct sown outdoors early in the spring. So that was a user error! But the seedlings did well despite my neglect and mistakes.
Everything they sent me came up and had great germination, from onions to pepper to peas to eggplants! Below are some photos of just a few of the seedlings and harvests from my the seeds I received in my Homesteaders Collection.
Cut Flower Collection
Historically, in my seed-starting career, I have had terrible luck with seed-starting perennials. However, I could not believe how successful I was with the perennial seeds that Sow Right Seeds sent me–especially the lupine! I cannot seed start lupine and get it to live to save my life! And I had abundant lupine flowers this year!
Another big winner for me was the larkspur! I generally have terrible germination, and even though I know several methods to germinate larkspur, none of them work out. Granted the variety they sent was the common dark purple variety, so it would do the best of any variety, but still, I was pleasantly surprised.
To be fair, I didn’t plant everything they sent in my bundle because some of the flowers were not part of my crop plan, but every perennial they sent is currently growing! And I hope to try some of the other seeds next year. Though I can’t find the exact collection of seeds I received on their website anymore, the Flower Farm Collection is closest to what I received–it’s a really good Year Zero package!
In conclusion, I love the idea of bundling seed packets per type! The savings are great, and the germination on all of these was fantastic. And they now ship to Canada!
When I posted throughout the spring and summer of 2024, gardeners would ask time and time again where I got my seeds because my crops were doing so well! And whenever Canadian growers used to ask about Sow Right Seeds, I would say, “I am so sorry you can’t have these!” I’m so excited this has changed and that I can order seeds from them again next year, as these seeds were really that great! Whether you’re in the U.S. or Canada, I would 100% recommend ordering from Sow Right Seeds!
